The 7th grade had a wonderful time at A Christmas Story: The Play at the O'Reilly Theater. Leading up to the trip, students explored 1930s-40s holiday traditions in Social Studies and practiced persuasive writing in ELA by revising Ralphie's paper. After seeing the show, students created a collaborative paper chain reflecting their favorite moments and characters in the play!
Thanks to a generous community member for the monetary donation to cover the cost of this wonderful experience, and to our 7th grade team for facilitating the curricular connections!

South Side recently had the privilege of welcoming Chris Herren to speak with our middle and high school students. His honesty, vulnerability, and powerful message about the realities of substance abuse made a deep impact on everyone in the room.
Chris encouraged our students to think about their choices, prioritize their well-being, and lean on the people who care about them.
We’re grateful to Chris for spending time with our school community and for the meaningful conversations that followed. Thank you to our staff and students for engaging with openness and respect.

Our College & Career Fair was a huge success! Students in grades 8-12 explored future opportunities by chatting with representatives from colleges, trade schools, trade unions, and military branches. Huge thanks to Ms. Metzler for coordinating this event and to the representatives for taking time to visit with our students today!
