AP Honor Roll
The College Board is pleased to share the exciting news that South Side High School has earned a position this year on the 5th Annual AP District Honor Roll! The annual AP District Honor Roll recognizes districts for increasing access to Advanced Placement course work while maintaining or increasing the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher on AP Exams. SSHS is one of only 9 high schools in southwestern PA, and only 41 (of 635) high schools state-wide to receive this very prestigious honor.

CCBC Aviation Academy
In January, CCBC will launch its Aviation Academy, the first program in the region that gives high school students a head start on earning college credits while receiving training in aviation. Students in grades 10- 12 will be able to choose between four pathways, including professional pilot, air traffic control, aerospace management and unmanned aerial vehicles. With the program, students will spend half of the day in high school and the other half taking courses in science, technology, engineering and math taught by CCBC faculty on campus at the college's new Aviation Sciences Center in Chippewa. Mrs. Tammy Adams, Superintendent, attended the ribbon cutting ceremony today held at the Center. South Side High School students will be able to learn more about the program when representatives from CCBC visit in November.

Spring 2014 Clean Up...Thank you!
The Spring 2014 community clean up weekend was held on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27. We had over 150 students, teachers and community members participate. The cleanup was a huge success as we collected around 700 bags of trash from the roadways in our school district. The hard work is definitely paying off as many have commented on how good our community looks. In addition to the dozens of volunteers who made this day a success, we would like to thank the following individuals, companies and organizations for their donations; C&E Plastics, The Howard Agency, The Hookstown Fair Board, Ponderosa Golf Course, Hanover Township, Raccoon Park, Beth and Pat Adams, Creative Minds Printing, Joyce Miller, Jeff Jones, Parsons Inc, Hookstown American Legion, Shippingport Borough, South Side Garage, Iannetti's Garden Center and County Line Pizza.
