Mrs. Langelli and Ms. Stonebraker had the honor of taking students to the inaugural Regional Science Conference at Penn State Beaver, hosted by the Idealized Science Institute! We hope this is the first of many opportunities for South Side students to participate in this exciting event and help build a powerful tradition of authentic, student-driven science in Western Pennsylvania.
The conference brought together students in grades 5–12 who are asking scientific questions, designing original research projects, and beginning to see themselves as scientists for the very first time. Their teachers guided them through challenging, time-intensive, and deeply transformative work — the kind of learning that inspires future innovators and researchers.
We are especially proud of our three student presenters this year:
Eva Horvátová — Wood Breakage
Caden Cusato — Corrosion Inhibitors
Nolan English — Shot-put Distance
Congratulations to Nolan, who received a $1,000 scholarship for first-time presenters, and to Caden, who earned a $1,200 scholarship for high school non-senior presenters!
We are incredibly proud of all of our students for representing South Side with excellence, curiosity, and professionalism. Great job, Rams!

Our high school law students had an incredible hands-on learning experience at the Beaver County Courthouse yesterday! Students explored the juvenile crime, probation and parole, and sheriff’s offices, observed live preliminary criminal hearings, and even had the opportunity to meet with County Commissioner Jack Manning. A great day connecting classroom learning to the real world!
