Our goal as educators is to increase knowledge of our communities, nation and world.  South Side Elementary adopted the TCI Alive! social studies series.  This series uses a combination of activities to make social studies informative and interesting.  Reading skills and strategies are integrated throughout the program to support and promote understanding and comprehension.  Maps, charts, graphs, photos and illustrations help students learn and organize content.  These are skills students need to become successful citizens.  Citizenship is stressed, teaching students to make a difference in our democracy.  Internet resources are provided to help social studies become an interactive experience.
