The athletic department would like to welcome you to our section of the district's website! We are dedicated to making athletics a positive part of your child's educational experience. We feel that the personal discipline that athletics requires will help transform your children into productive young men and women that understand the values and commitment necessary to be a team player in today's society. Athletic Physicals

IMPORTANT CHANGES FOR SPORTS PHYSICALS

The PIAA has made changes to the Pre-Participation Physical evaluation. Athletes that do not have a current physical will need to complete sections 1-6 and section 10 prior to participation in a school-sponsored sport. Athletes that have a current physical need to complete sections 7 and 10 prior to participation in a school sponsored sport.

Due to the current Coronavirus situation, South Side will be unable to conduct in house sport physicals. Athletes needing a physical for the winterl sports season are encourage to contact their primary doctor and make arrangements. There will be a strong demand for well visits and currently some doctors are not scheduling these procedures, so planning will be vital. Urgent care facilities may be the best option, but it is recommend calling in advance.

The window for physicals will begin on Monday, June 1, 2020- Meaning physical documents MUST be dated after June 1st 2020.

PIAA physical documents are available to download on the athletics page of the school website. Paper copies of these documents are available in main school office, or athletic training room. Completed documents can be dropped off to main school office. If the current closure situation changes and South Side is able to conduct in house sports physical, we will promptly notify all students.

Supplemental Insurance

The SSASD provides supplemental insurance to offset out of pocket expenses resulting from an athletic injury. Insurance claim forms are available through the athletic training department. Section 1 of the form will be completed by the athletic trainer or coaching staff and any unreimbursed medical will be submitted to MCA Administrators, Inc. Please make copies of any bills or receipts and complete section 2 and 3 and return form and documents to the athletic trainer.
